Oh WoW this Sounds Awesome

A free concert at the park!!!!! Me and my family will be there. Then we can enjoy the fireworks. Elwood is a great town for famlies, that is our biggest asset.

I Totally Agree

Famlies are Elwoods biggest asset and whatever anyone can do to strengthen that the better. I think its great the parks department and Quincy's Brass are doing this. I was at a graduation party next door to where they practice, and I was able to hear them. They are a great band, and it is really something different. I can't wait to go, the 4th of July is going to be a fun day. If your looking for something to do . . . THATS CHEAP . . . you can't beat this entertainment.

Computer Dude's picture

I think he said

Their going to shoot for August 1 2008

New Bar

Well at least its closer to the police station!!

New Bar

Isn't that building owned by the same ones that owned your old shop and the apartments up stairs Al? I guess I'm confused on where exactly it'll be. Is it on the side facing the police department or on the same side as the old License Branch? Will it be big enough for good size crowds?

ADMIN NOTE: No its behind the tax assessors office. The entrance will be in the alley across from Star Bank off of South A St. It should handle a large crowd ok.

New Bar

HOORAY BEER!

ROCK OUT!!!!

I love the idea of a free concert in the park before the fireworks. Maybe next year we can get a few more bands and make it an all day event.

Can't Wait

Elwood: We certainly hope you all enjoy the show. And remember, people, that no matter who you are and what you do to live, thrive and survive, there're still some things that makes us all the same. You. Me. Them. Everybody. Everybody.
["Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" song begins]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elwood: [during "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love"] People, when you do find that special somebody, you gotta hold that man, hold that woman! Love him, please him, squeeze her, please her! Signify your feelings with every gentle caress, because it's so important to have that special somebody to hold, to kiss, to miss, to squeeze, and please!

Mrs. Murphy: Help you two?
Elwood: Do you have any white bread ma'am?
Mrs. Murphy: Yeah.
Elwood: I'll have some toasted white bread please.
Mrs. Murphy: You want butter or jam on that, honey?
Elwood: No ma'am, dry.
Jake: Do you have any fried chicken ma'am?
Mrs. Murphy: Best damned chicken in the state.
Jake: Bring me four fried chickens and a Coke.
Mrs. Murphy: You want chicken wings or chicken legs?
Jake: Four fried chickens and a Coke.
Elwood: And some dry white toast please.
Mrs. Murphy: Ya'all want anything to drink with that?
Elwood: No ma'am.
Jake: A Coke.
Mrs. Murphy: Be right back.

Yeah

$7 to see two guys most people have never heard of, in a bar thats going to be tore down in a couple months. Sounds Fun . . .

Computer Dude's picture

Quit being a cheapskate

7 dollars is pretty cheap these days for any type of entertainment. Especially if everything else is free that day. I have heard that their pretty good. It sure would be worth 7 bucks to find out. I say thanks Brian for thinking about ways to keep the Elwood citizens entertained and letting us know about it here.
