Anyone Know This Guy???
Under:

Saturday, as I and my wife were walking around taking pictures, we came across this guy. He didn't seem to like me taking his picture. He said I had to have his permission. If fact, He said He didn't like anything I did and wasn't polite about it at all. Seems funny to me since I don't think I have ever even met this man. Well, Just for your information guy, I don't need your permission to take pictures in a public location nor do I need your permission to post them here.

I have no idea who he is,
I have no idea who he is, but he doesn't look very happy! You know some people are just rude for no good reason. Or maybe he has a good reason, for all we know he could be Betty's husband!
Or Maybe
Or Maybe, he is someone that is wanted for something and did not want his pic on the web! LOL kidding of course, I have never seen this guy!
I look good in this pic
It's got to be me I am the only rude person in Elwood.
Rude people at Festival
That was very rude of him but, come to think of it, I came in contact with many rude people in Elwood this weekend. That's sad that people can't be welcoming to out of towners. Makes me not want to come back next year.
sorry to hear that
when we went to the festival we had a great time.... most people had smiles on their faces and it was nice to see people you havent seen in awhile...... sorry it wasnt that way for you......
lol
maybe he was mad because he didnt want his picture taken in a booth full of girly stuff.....lol
Al's Been !
Oh no Al's been a very bad boy!!! lol Didnt think you had it in ya Al.! Give them hell...
Rude Vendor
Just laff it off. Next time, step back and take the picture from a distance using zoom lens. If he becomes aggressive, report him to whomever is in charge of the activity, or maybe the authorities. I wonder if he made many sales that day. Oh well.
I had a great time at the festival jacobs
I did get a little carried away with the food tho but its soooo good and not around but once a year :) I just posted this guy because He was wrong about the law so I just thought I'd let him know about it here! Actually, for the last year or so, I have not had a lot of trouble from anyone like I used to. A lot of Elwoodians don't like out of towners. The last time I can remember vividly was the lady at the Farmers Market last year. With a big smile she said, Oh, your not going to put me in the paper, are you? I said, No I am from Elwoodindiana.org. And she said in a rude tone of voice, Oh, That Website and then turned away from us. Well, in case you haven't noticed, I haven't taken any pictures this year of the farmers market. Its like this, I feel I have put enough of my own time and money in this site and this community that I don't have to put up with it anymore. To put it bluntly, I am not going to take any more s**t from these people. As far as I am concerned, If your rude to me in public then you can answer for it here from now on. Just maybe, That will teach some of them anyway to be respectful of others for a change. It would be one thing if they actually knew me but most of the idiots that are rude and run me down don't known me at all. They just think they do because of whatever gossip they hear. But The funniest part is when they tell people how much they hate this site and then just keep coming back to read more of it so they can go back out and complain even more. Then there's the people that act nice to your face but continually grumble under their breath about my site. Well folks, you better get over it because this site isn't going anywhere any time soon. Even If I die tomorrow, There are few others that can and will take it over. This site was designed to bring Elwood the latest technology to help them grow, communicate with each other and create an online presence for the rest of the world. As the site grows, It helps more and more people in the community while teaching the rest of us tolerance for others opinions. I talked with Bill Savage over the weekend and he told me the city received a grant in part because of this website. Many positive things are starting to happen because of this website. I remember not to long ago some of you complaining about all the kids on scooters without helmets. Well the Police Department responded by giving out tickets to several of these kids but of course, nobody gave them any credit for trying to respond to your complaints. Instead they got more bashing for their trouble. Not one thank you about the scooters from any of the complainers, just more bashing. Same deal with the mayor. You complained about a couple of aggressive officers and the Mayor took his own time to ride around with them for quite some time and teach them how to better police us but I haven't heard anyone being to thankful for that either. These people are just like you and me. They all have feelings and deserve to be treated better than they have been. Now I know what my mom meant years ago. Being a city employee is definitely a thankless job. Something keeps telling me tho that eventually, You will all learn to communicate effectively and when that happens, then all kinds of neat stuff will start happening. But, Rome wasn't built in a day :)
Al Jordan
i think
you know i love this site... you do a great job and the people here are glad that you have gone to the trouble to put this on here and to put up with all us,lol... was that dude even local? dont know why he wouldnt want to have his picture taken because that is free advertisement..... i would love to get that next year if i have enough artwork done,,,, you can take all the pictures you want!!!as far as people being rude over the website, dont understand that.... why in the world would they treat you that way???? its a great site,,,, i think some people are just so closed minded.... keep up the good work!!! yeah, enjoyed the fair food tooooo much also!!!! but like you said, its just once a year! have a good one, tonya
Al you were right...
The weather was PERFECT this year for the Glass Festival! I was just wondering though, did you have to replace your camera or use a larger lense when you took my picture???? D**N I need to lose weight! LOL Great job with all of the pics and I hope the mayor's right in his interview, I hope next year IS bigger and better than ever! Oh, and about hte rude people, my parents are from out of town and they never mentioned once that anyone was mean or rude to them! I think they had a good time spending time up here and with the grandkids!
Ya That Zoom Jtaylor227
Ya That Zoom lens seems to blow everything up if you know what I mean :) Some guys would love to use that zoom lens for sending pics over the internet. lol OK, Its getting late and I'm acting goofy so I'm off to bed now. Night All :)
rude people
the world would be a lot better off if we as a people were not so judgemental of someones looks--color--or --creed and we can only hope that in the future that people will not judge how a person is by looks alone and to this i say--- you go Al keep doing what you are doing all the good people in this town and the people who know you do support you we are lucky to have someone with your talent and skill to provide us with a forum to post our thoughts and views thanks for the site!!
This is not a shot at you Al!
If what you say about the scooters is true, then I must applaud the EPD for responding to the complaints. However, if it is really due to this website, doesn't that suggest to you that they are not as overworked and busy as they claim? Whatever, I'm just saying that if this website is going to be used for official use, then Al needs to be receiving a paycheck from our taxes as well. Even better I vote that Al should be Elwood's Detective since he runs the site they base all of their investigations on.
Tonya
you shameful hussy, lol, quit flirting lol(just kidding)
Well Obamas_mama
You Said: If what you say about the scooters is true, then I must applaud the EPD for responding to the complaints. However, if it is really due to this website, doesn't that suggest to you that they are not as overworked and busy as they claim?
Answer: Not at all. Websites like this one are commonly used by law enforcement for tips and info all the time. Most of the officers that I have talked to said they read it with their coffee in the mornings before work. I would have to say that some of the problems their having is due to understaffing at the moment. Until you walk in their shoes, there's no way of really telling what their daily workload is. All I was saying really was that most people give them no credit at all on here weather their doing their job or not and I was just trying to point that out.
As far as receiving a paycheck, You can send it to :) Just kidding, If I took a paycheck from the city then I would have to run it like the city wanted it and lets face it. That would be no fun at all :)
As far as being a detective gos, I can see it now. Simultaneously tazing a guy while reading him his rights: You have the right to remain silent (As he lays on the ground screaming) You have a right to an attorney, if you can't afford one, tough S**T! Yes, I'm afraid I would have way too much fun with that. I did have a teacher once that told my mom I would make a good attorney because of my debating skills. I don't know if that was meant as a smart remark tho or not :) You see, I used to argue with the teachers if they were wrong about something. Never worked out too well for me tho :)
tammy
girl you are so bad!!!lol. i wasnt flirting, just having fun.... tonya
To Al
All I can say is you win Al.
Thanks to Al and Mayor Taylor
I think it's great that this website helped get Elwood a grant. You have built a great site here. You can tell that you've put a lot of time and hard work into it and for that I would like to thank you. Who cares if some "Elwoodians" don't like it. Some people just aren't happy unless they're complaining about something! Most of us DO like it. I wouldn't let the ones that don't bother me in the least if I were you.
As for the Mayor riding with some of the police officers, I didn't even know about that until I read it here. Now that I know I would like to say: Thank You Mayor Taylor!! Great job!
Oh C'mon Obamas_Mama
That was way too easy :)
Al Jordan
Great job!
Great job for doing hi Job... Well OK.....
Correct me if I'm wrong, but
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it is part of the Mayor's job description to ride along with police officers showing them the right way to police people. If he's willing to spend his own personal time doing this, then yes, I do think he deserves to be thanked for it.
I think you're wrong
I believe the Mayor is ultimately responsible and should see what's going on with the cities PD. It's effective and hands-on management allowing him better answers for them when asked.
Mayor's job description
Correct me if I'm wrong, The mayor is there boss so he needs to check out his employees every now and then there for it is his Job, Right!... RIGHT. Don't miss understand me I think it's good he makes time for them.
The Guest
I agree with the guest, I have not heard of mayors in the past riding around with the officers on THEIR OWN TIME! Read the post from Al, he did this on his own time, he too has a family that he would like to spend time with, it is one thing if he does it during working hours, but for him to take his OWN TIME and do it, ya that deserves a THANK YOU!!!
tonya
you silly...i was just poking fun lol
Wait a minute!
What does it matter if he rides around with them or not? All we really care about is the harrasment stopping like he promised. By the way he's the mayor 24/7 he is always on call so it doesn't sound like personal time to me.
But from my own selfish personal standpoint, I have to say thank you the EPD for not bothering me for almost 8 monthes straight. Keep up the good work and remember if you get bored, that there are plenty of out of towners that drive out alot of gas to come to Elwood and dump their trash in our city dumpster. Go get em!
Thanks Al
Al set up our website at the YMCA. He did not charge us one dime. Al you are one of the greatest "community" people I know. Thank you for all you do.

Hey Al...
This is a fine site and you've done a good thing by building it! Ignore the negative criticism and learn from the positive. The fact that you don't censor the thoughts of others is a great thing. Sometimes that will cause folks to dislike one another or even you but, at the end of the day, one can always speak their mind here. There is always a risk that someone will spread lies and hate because they enjoy a level of anonymity but that's also part of what makes forums like this so great. One just has to learn to ignore certain people or place the burden of proof on them and make them back up their story with facts.
Good job.
Great job Al
It's been good to hear both sides of the issues here on this site. We don't and won't get that from the Call-Leader. I'm also glad to hear that the Mayor is starting to look in on the police and try to correct the problems. But, the question still needs to be answered by him as to why was my son's complaint was never adressed after contacting the mayor so many times. Right or wrong, Tim should have been heard. I have been friends with Merrill for over 30 years, and have always held the greatest respect for him and regarded him as a great man. Many of the standards I have set at the Elwood Opera House were things he taught me as a teen. I believed in him, and supported him heavily in his two runs as Mayor. I have silently done many favors for him and for the city, and NEVER ONCE asked for anything in return, except one meeting with him and the chief. He promised us a public review board, he promised us the harrassment would end when he took office. He also promised an "Open door" policy, and yet on countless occasions I have gone to his office and he was not in, or had gone home for the day. As often as he is gone on personnal business, he should have time to ride with the cops, and it would not "be on his on time", but would be time he owes us for the pay and benefits he receives. As far as my complaint that Tim was ignored, he DOES owe a public explanation as to why he failed in his duties, and did not keep his promises. Rest assured, I won't go away until I get it. I worked for Merrill 30 years ago. He expected a very high standard in our work performance. If I had failed in my duties in the same fashion that he has, I WOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED! He offen told us, "There's a line of boys outside that door waiting to take your job!" I feel he should hold himself to his own standard. You all know that I'm moving away, but I won't be going away. He needs to be held accountable for his broken promises, for failing Tim, and failing to answer my questions. They stated in the newspaper that the questions I asked could not be answered because of the pending investigation, but none of my questions had anything to do with the investigation and certainly could have been answered by him. Another failure. After a 30 year friendship, I am highly disappointed that he has failed me in this manner. I say give me and the public the answers or hold yourself to you own standard and resign! Sincerely, Keith Israel, US ARMY Dad.
Okay Al
I'll play the game. I think that the reason they are harrassing the scooters has nothing to do with the complaints on here. I mean come on the only people that ride those scooters are the DUI victims. That's why they have baskets on them to carry booze. Hell there is always at least one parked at the liquer store. So you see Al, the reason the scooters are being harrassed is that the people riding them are the same people that are already being harrassed. Sorry EPD, don't take it personal.
Hi Everyone
Just got back from Lake Michigan. The sites been busy the last 4 days. Looks like I got a lot of reading to do :) Nope Obamas_Mama. The violations I read were in one day and mostly younger kids all tho I will admit there are some DUI victims riding around too but better on them then in a car. OK Obamas_mama, I get the point, You don't like the cops. That's OK, A lot of people don't. But their still the first people you call whenever you have a problem and when they do a good job, I think they should get credit for it. Your Move :)
Al
Hi Everyone.....
That's exactly right..........credit should be given where credit is due.
LOL
The scooter ya see at the liquor store is there because the kid that works there has no car and it's his only transportation LOL
Just doing their job?
They claim to be a good force, "just doing our job", and get offended if someone bashes. If we complain we are criminals. But why is EPD under investigation again? Go to www.heraldbulletin.com. Hmmmm.....
Hmmmm..........
Mr or Mrs Obama Mama, you can't hide behind a GUEST post. You are in a canoe with no paddle, in the outfield with no mit,
Why are you afraid to post with your ID ??
Elwood on Channel 6 News
Once again we're on the news, and it's not looking good.
Yes it's true
I checked out the Herald Bulletin web site (under search Elwood News) and found a 5:04 post stating that The EPD is indeed under still another investigation by the Indiana State Police for missing evidence. I talked to a HeraldBulletin reporter who said it was drug related, but was still looking into which officer was involved. I'm not sure how the Call-Leader will handle this, but HB told me to read the 8-27-08 Wednesday addition for more details which is now up on their site. So, Hmmm!
