The dispatch change is not by city choice. It is mandated by the state for all counties to have 1 (and some counties 2) central dispatch. This has been in the works for years now. It has been taken over by Madison County Sheriffs Dept. so please be patient as the bugs are worked out.

A friend of mine on the Alexandria PD told me that Alex's dispatch is also moving, to Anderson. The county will be handling the dispatch in order to provide better response, especially if other agencies are needed, and that it wasn't so much an issue of budget cuts.

I asked a couple of Police officers what they thought of the Dispatch moving.
The Two I talked to said they thought it would be better, less confusion. They also said they would miss it at the dept. And also said it spoiled them. I am not saying it's good or bad just passing on what I was told by them.
