I understand. I have gone to look at all of the sex offenders and it seems Elwood has the most of any town around. SICK! Sure makes me wonder ..."WHY ELWOOD"!~ I would also like to know the answer to Michele's question...who is keeping up with these people?

There are way too many sex offenders living in Elwood, especially for a city this size. I suggest registering on the wedbsite www.familywatchdog.us Everytime a sex offender or convicted felon moves in Elwood, or within a certain distance of your home Famiyl Watchdog will send you an email alert. I've gotten at least two so far this year. And you're right about them living close to schools, there's one on 22nd street that's about 3 doors down from the Head Start and fairly close to Kiwanas Park. I think this one may be in violation, but how many times can you say something before the rules are enforced? There's a detective at the sheriff's department that handles the sex offender registry. Detective Caldwell is overwhelmed with cases involving sex offenders and incest. It's really quite sick. Don't feel like you're the only one that notices though...it's a major problem here.

The one living a couple doors down from head start is the one I was talking about.I was going to enroll my daughter but when I when I saw that I quickly changed my mind.I was fairly certain that they aren't supposed to live that close to a school.I printed out a flyer showing the map from the watchdog site which showed his address and charges compared to the address of the head start and brought it to the police department who pretty much told me they will pass it on but they don't think it's a problem since his parole officer should be keeping up with that type of thing.I was so tempted to make a fuss but in a town this small where my two babies live with me I just couldn't chance ticking anyone off :(

This stuff really makes me mad. You took that printed map to the police station, but did they follow up with it? Who knows? Just a few days ago that slimeball from Florida that raped and killed Jessica Lunsfield was sentenced to die. He is a registered sex offender and has repeatedly done these nasty, horrific things to children. The police need to crack down on these monsters! If it was up to me? Well, that's better left between me and God. ;P

In my previous post I stated that there's a detective at Madison County that handles the sex offender registry. She's the one that needs to be contacted to follow up on this. Her name is Tracy Moore. All sex offender registrations in the state are handled by the local sheriff's departments, not the city police. I'm not trying to be smart about it, just wanting to let you know. I believe I spoke to her previously about the guy that lives there, and she said he drives a truck for Red Gold, so he's rarely there, but when he decided to walk over into my yard one night and introduce himself, he stated that he was "just visiting mom". So he's registered there, but not living there is how I took it....still, that's a violation. It's scarey though, I have 2 small children and 1 on the way and this is what I have to worry about constantly, a bunch of perverts that like children. Nice huh?

Send every one of them to prison! Wouldn't matter to me! Just means my kids would be a heck of a lot safer!
