why
Why does a locale organization raising money for a good cause have to go out of town to do it ?I am just wondering, if the local golf club won't help I do not want to spend any of my money with them either. I hope I am wrong and a logical answer as to why this isn't held in elwood
why
I am not 100% sure but... I think they tried to
have the scramble in Elwood and it did not work
out.
golf
elwood golf tournament in alexandria! PAR!
You tell me
I know a couple of years ago a group from the K of C were putting together a golf outing at Elwood in order to raise money for "Make a Wish" and ironically the date they had chosen and set up with our local golf course had to be moved because someone ended up scheduling something else for that day. Now that should have been first come first serve. Don't know who was in charge of scheduling events.
why a golf tournament in Alexandria ?
We wanted the tournament to be held in Elwood!!!
The Elwood Eagles did discuss with the management at Cattails Golf Course
the possibility of hosting the golf tournament.
A contract agreement could not be reached. We tried!
This is the Elwood Eagles first golf tournament and we were soooo much
wanting to have it here in Elwood.
Thanks for your concern. Maybe we can try again next year.
Why #2 Correct
Comment #2 is correct. The Eagles did go to Elwood first. This is suppose to be a fund raiser. There was no way to raise any money with what Elwood offered. Alexandria offered a better deal. This is the whole problem with Elwood. Everyone goes out of town because there is more offered at better prices - even gas.
Cattails Golf Club
We were contacted by the Eagles about hosting the event. We gave them the same rate as all of our other community golf outings and fund raisers. The rate we gave them was $25. This is a very reasonable price for a golf outing. This is the same pricing we give to all of our annual outings (St. Vincents Mercy Hospital, Red Golf, FOP, YMCA, Babe Ruth, Dick Hobbs Memorial). We do not feel it is fair to our repeat outings to discount the price for groups that do not support their community businesses. We have invested over a million dollars in building this facility for the community. If certain groups are going to support business in other communities for $2 less per player, they are jepordizing not just ours but all local business. During our construction process we purchase our goods locally whnever they were available. We did our best to support the community!

Thanks Brad!
Thanks for posting. It's nice to know that a business the size and type of yours IS backing local businesses, or at least what's left of the local businesses. Maybe the city will take a hint and advertise our community, using your business as a "draw" to outside events and people traveling through town!
