How many?

How many cases compromised? How many "get out of jail cards free"?If they knew he was addicted in july why was he still on duty working?

sad

This really is heartbreaking. Andy's a really nice guy and I hope he gets his problems taken care of. I didn't see anywhere in the story where it said he was addicted to drugs in July. Where'd you get that info? This won't change my opinion of Andy, I just feel he needs help and I hope he gets the help he needs and can move on with his life.

Elwood officer

Yes you are right... it is unbelieveable and sad. Especially if you know the family of Andy and the situations that they
have gone through in the past year. Stress and the trials of life sometimes make a person do things that under normal
situations would be inconciveable. Andy is a good cop.... who made a poor choice which he will now be held responsible.
And his actions not only effects him but the entire EPD and the city. To the Murray's..... you have the support of many
friends!

Elwood Officer

They have a confession, so believe it. If you know him so well ask him. Here we go again. Let's hang him because people can't stand the EPD or there is no way he would do something like that. Geez EPD is doing the right thing by getting rid of him. The ISP did the right thing by arresting him. Hopefully Andy received help for his addiction prior to a long legal defense.
His parents are great people who are embarressed. Nice guy, wrong job to have this type of problem.

Andy is a very sweet and

Andy is a very sweet and caring guy who made a mistake. The Herald's article does say he is cooperating and helping with this investigation. He knows he's made a mistake. The guy has went through enough in the last year to make anyone buckle. I hope he is getting the help he needs and that people respect his privacy during this difficult time.

I would

have never thought this out of him. He was one of the best officers on the force. Andy is a truly caring individual. Hopefully he is getting the help that he needs. My prayers go to him and his family during this time. The Murrays are all good people!

No Better...

No better than any other junkie!! What a weak man he is, I feel sorry for his family.

let me ask you this!

HOW OFTEN BEFORE THIS HAPPEN HAVE YOU HEARD HIS NAME IN A BAD WAY OR EVEN HEARD HIS NAME IN THE NEWS PAPER, OR ON THE NEWS FOR BEING A BAD PERSON OR FOR DRUGS????? NEVER...PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES & GET CAUGHT UP IN THINGS! I DONT LOOK AT HIM AS A JUNKIE.....IF YOU KNEW HIM YOU WOULD KNOW GROWING UP HE NEVER TOOK A PILL OR ANYTHING. IF HE WAS SUCH A JUNKIE HE WOULDNT OF BEEN ABLE TO DO HIS JOB, WITCH HE DONE WELL, IF HE WAS SUCH A JUNKIE WOULD HE HAVE TOOK TIME TO BUY MY NEWBORN SON OUTFITS...NO CAUSE A JUNKIE ONLY CARES ABOUT ONE THING AND THAT IS THERE DRUG OF CHOICE. SO THAT JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW MUCH YOU KNOW ABOUT HIM AS A PERSON!!!!! AND IF HE WAS SUCH A JUNKIE YOU COULD TELL BY LOOKING AT HIM. HE KNOWS WHAT HE DID WAS WRONG OR HE WOULDNT BE TELLING THE TRUTH...HE ISNT TRYING TO LIE ABOUT IT ONE BIT. SO IF YOU DONT KNOW HIM AS A PERSON YOU NEED NOT TO SAY TO MUCH ABOUT HIM!

youre lucky

youre lucky i dont know who you are for saying something like that about my brother, or i would shut your mouth. you dont know him. not everyone is perfect and we are all human. people make mistakes, its what happens. for you to say something like that about him, then say you feel sorry for his family is unbelievable. they would nothing from an idiot such as yourself. so do us all a favor and keep your words to yourself!

I'm his sister. I know how

I'm his sister. I know how my parents feel. They are great people. They're not one bit embarrassed. Neither am I. I am as proud of him today as I was last week, last year, the last 26 years. Don't assume you know how my parents feel about the situation.

Wow. No better than any

Wow. No better than any other junkie? Whatever. Do you know him? Probably not. I am his family...don't feel sorry for me, feel sorry for yourself for thinking that way of him. He's the strongest man I've ever known, aside from our dad.

from: Lil Murray

I want to thank everyone for their support right now. He needs all the support he can get. My brother is a great guy. A great dad. A great uncle. An awesome brother. If anyone knows me, you know how I feel about my brother. I've looked up to him since the day I was born. I always will. He will always be a hero to me, whether he can be to you or not, I don't know. It doesn't really matter. Alls that matters right now is Andy. He's always been a great cop...all you out there who can look down on him right now-which cop was it that helped you when you called the police department? He made a mistake. I've made many. He still loves me. If it wasn't for the fine citizens of Elwood doing the stupid stuff that he's dealt with since he came to EPD, he probably wouldn't have resorted to that. I'm proud to say I'm a Murray. I'm proud to say that I'm Murray's little sister. Always been Murray's lil sis, always will be. Thank you to all my brother's friends again. I love you all.

A sad situation. I don't

A sad situation. I don't know what the problems have been that he and his family have had to deal with the past year, but they certainly have a heavy burden now. They are going to need the love and support of their friends and family. I agree that good people can make bad mistakes. Remember, when you post comments on here that anybody, including the loved ones of the people you are talking about, can read or hear about them. It is possible to state an honest opinion in a tactful and/or kind way.

Hey no better.

Who do you think you are to pass judgment on this guy. Is your life so perfect that you have never had any problems? I know for a fact that Andy is relieved that this nightmare is over. He is prepared to take his punishment. More importantly he has sought help for the addiction and he knows that he let his family down. He also know he let the citizens of Elwood down. He had a stellar work record. His career is over. His family are great people and he
