Elwood Street Department Dumpster Rules

We will continue to provide you with the household trash dumpster for your convenience at the Elwood Street Department. Items that are NOT accepted are as follows
1. No Building Material (NO EXCEPTIONS)
2. No Cement
3. No Tires
4. No Gas or Propane Tanks
5. No Large Pieces of Carpet (Small Pieces accepeted)
If you are unsure of what we take you may contact Nora Henson at the Street Department at 765-552-2711
You must provide a valid photo ID and sign in at the office before we can allow you to dump. This insures that people from out of town are not coming.
Also, we do not allow private haulers to come in and dump for monetary gain. NO EXCEPTION to the rules!
We are only getting one dumpster a month now. To insure that the dumpster will be available the whole month, we must put a limit to loads and enforce these stipulations. If you have any questions you may contact the Street Department.

For providing us with somewhere we can dump items, and keeping the "out of towners" from ruining it for us. I hope these rules are enforced and we don't lose this option! You guys do a great job, keep up the good work!

I second the thank you!! It is wonderful to have this option. I also know that you folks do a tremendous job keeping the city beautiful. I am afraid that without the dumpsters, there would be a lot of unauthorized dumping in the city and country. Thanks again!!
landfill?
Instead of the dump why not recycle? There are freecycle sites for every city around us. Much better use of our trash. One mans trash is another mans treasure. Only in Elwood Do people get excited about filling the earth with trash. shame on you

elwood does have a freecycle website, just no one uses it much.....

It is so cool to give away things that you thought were trash to you, then to find out it's just the thing the guy down the street needed! Everyone it is so easy to freecycle your old stuff, and it will make you feel good knowing it will not end up in the landfill. I'm going to list some things today.
