Under:

The Elwood Police Department is still accepting applications for Chief of Police. It was reported by a member earlier that Jason Brizendine would be Chief but according to the Mayors office, They are still taking applications and haven't started interviewing anybody yet. For more info contact the EPD at 765-552-3376 or stop in for an application.

Um, why?

Would you call the police department emergency line for an application for EPD?

CLARIFICATION

If the above notice is referring to me when saying "It was reported by a member earlier that Jason Brizendine would be Chief," I reported that a source (close to the mayor) from the city building had told me that the mayor was CONSIDERING appointing Brizendine as chief. If referring to me, you've taken my words out of context. See my thread, "Chief Brizendine." Thank you, ~ Pops.

Hey POPS

Why don't you just load your U-Haul and get on down the road. I am sorry for the loss of your son, but give it a break. Cops don't pick on law abiding citizens, military or not. Good Day!!!

Computer Dude's picture

To Um, Why?

911 is an emergency number. I simply posted the number for people that live out of town that might be interested and want one mailed to them. Lets face it, I don't think the EPD is going to get flooded with calls from people wanting the job :) but I have a lot of out of town guests that visit here so I was just trying to make it a little easier for them.

To Pops
OK, I am not a great reporter but never claimed to be. It was actually reported by you because you started the thread. I just didn't go into a lot of the details because I didn't feel like typing. Didn't mean to insinuate anything or make you sound bad. If I did, I apologize.

Yes I am moving very soon, and am very excited! But trust me I won't be going away. I will complete my mission. And yes the EPD has picked on law abiding citizens. They picked on me, and they picked on my son. I'm suspicious that you are the one. Good day to you also!!! ~ Pops.

We know you're moving

You're like a broken record. Please start your own forum. If I've heard it once I've heard it 100 times. Most of us aren't affiliated with the EPD and don't care about you being picked on. Based on what I've read I can see how you would be accused of disorderly conduct.

According to Wilkpedia, disorderly conduct is
A person who recklessly, knowingly, or intentionally:
(1) engages in fighting or in tumultuous conduct;
(2) makes unreasonable noise and continues to do so after being asked to stop; or
(3) disrupts a lawful assembly of persons;
commits disorderly conduct. . .

In my opinion I would bet on #2.

You are suspicious of everyone who says anything negative about you or your situation. There are people on here that could care less. Do us a favor and start your own forum instead of repeating yourself on every forum on here. The reason people don't sign their name when addressing you is they don't want the wrath of Keith going at them like the EPD. Even your followers don't sign their name. I'm not even sure that you have more than a couple of young kids in your court anyway.
It sounds like you should get a lawyer for your issues. After all you have all the facts. They're not going to get resolved here or in the newspaper.

I'm sure now you'll be suspicious that I am the ONE. Sorry not me.

That is not an emergency

That is not an emergency line for the EPD...it is a general line. Check the phone book!

The "couple of young kids" you think are "in my court" wouldn't be the two young men you saw me talking to last night would it? You say my "followers" won't sign their names, but if you check posts in past threads you'll find I have been supported by many members, including copswife32. You are still trying to stretch disorderly conduct into my free speech (violation of 4th admendment). I'm suspicious that most posts bashing me and my son have been from you. You want me to shut up and go away, and yet you still hold a grudge and won't go away. I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but....I won't be going away....I won't be going away....I won't be going away.....

Let's give it to jake taylor you all love him

nuts

I don't see anyone on here saying they love me....weird how I get pulled into something I don't want anything to do with too! Oh well, I'll take the paycheck, but don't count me in on wanting the job, i'm quite content with where I'm at!
Thanks though!

Phone line

I checked in my phone book and it says that the 3377 number is for emergencies, but as everyone knows the only TRUE emergency number is 911. Not sure why that number was even published, everyone else always calls 3376...oh well!

Computer Dude's picture

OK I'll change it

to the 3376 number.

re gen. pops

Im with the guest who would like nothing more for you to shut up. I havent been in here long and Im sick of you already.

You and I have something in common. We both agree that Merrill Taylor is a great guy. I worked for him 30years ago, he was a great boss. He has a wonderful family and has raised outstanding kids, who are now raising his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I've always had great respect for him as a person and friend. Prior to being elected mayor, he and I had quite a number of personal conversations about the over aggressive behavior of the EPD, past violations of my rights, and about former Mayor Metzger ignoring complaints. Merrill told me several times that he would not tolerate harrassing behavior, and ALL complaints would be heard, etc. etc. etc. With that said, can you tell all of us why he ignored Tim's complaint? Was he just using me? Right or wrong, Tim's complaint should have been heard. He put me off several times over four weeks. Finally Tim gave up and told me to forget it, that he felt that Merrill just didn't care. I will defend Merrill Taylor as a person all day long. But with everything he has personally told me to my face and then failed in the duty he said he would perform, how can I feel he has done a great job? He made several promises concerning the EPD to citizens faces and in ads when he ran for mayor, and many of us voted for him because we believed in him. I've known and respected Merrill highly for over 30 years, and I guess that makes his ignoring Tim's complaint of harrassment twice as hard for me. He has yet to offer an explanation for this failure. I speak in truth and fact on this matter, and I guess that is why you want me to shut up so we can all act like this didn't happen. But please, in defence of Mr. Taylor, can you explain why this failure ocurred? Telling me to shut up is not an answer.

re pops

Mayor Taylo has NEVER refused to see me or have conversations about the probs in my neighborhood. In fact he HELPED to controll a particular situation. He got trees cut down for me and even fixed my sidewalks...better yet....he had the new sidewalk ran right up to my front door!.....Maybe he truely wasnt aware of your sons problem. As far as the EPD goes Ive never been harrassed nor my daughter. I just dont see it.

re Linda

You stated that you haven't been on here long, so I guess you've not read past posts by me stating the facts. When I first called Merrill on his cell phone about Tim being harrassed that Sunday in February, I gave him details of what had just happened that day, I told him the officers names, degrading statements made to my son concerning his medals and combat service, false accusations made to him, and the length of time he was detained. Also, this situation with the police did not concern my son, but another individual. My son had simply walked out of his apartment into this ordeal. The mayor was very aware of the fact that Tim was harrassed. I contacted him several times to set up the meeting. Merrill failed in his duty in a situation he promised he would not tolerate. Right or wrong, Tim should have been given the meeting to address his ongoing complaint. He complained to me almost daily until the day he died. We are all born with rights in this country, Tim EARNED his rights when he served his 2 tours of combat duty in Iraq. He EARNED the right to be heard. And yet he was ignored. WHY? Sincerely, Keith Israel, Proud US ARMY Dad.

Pops

I dont think just because your son served in the ARMY going to Iraq or not that he earned his right to be heard, i think everybody has the right to be heard no matter who they are or what they do and maybe that was the biggest problem he thought because of what he did he should not have to do as the law says and i dont think that is right, he must of done something wrong for the police to even mess with him in the first place. I read all your post and i try to understand really i do but i just dont get why he was even involed with the EPD anyway, and i dont think u calling the Mayor on a Sunday is right either, he has a life and i am sure u would not want to be called about work stuff on a Sunday, and i belive that sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me and you are telling me that your son was upset because of a cop degrading him about what he did in the army? Does it matter what others think, i tell my kids that just as long as u know what u have done and your family is proud of you it does not matter what anybody else thinks... now this is just what i think and has nothing against you as a person and it does not change what happend to your son, and nothing can bring him back and i am so sorry for that if i was in your shoes, i might see it a little different

momof2

In this country we all have rights that were given to us by the ones who fought and the many who died. I feel most Americans have had it so good for so long that the ones who have not gone to war and fought for these rights just plain take it for granted. In what I have tried to illustrate in my post is Tim IS one of the brave that fought for and EARNED the rights that most of us, who have not fought for, also enjoy. Most of us have done nothing other than being born here to earn these rights. If you are one of those who take your rights for granted, I guess you probably won't understand what I'm saying. We all have rights given to us by living in America. Tim is one who EARNED his. As for calling the mayor on Sunday, we've had a 30 year friendship, have each others cell numbers, and have called each other many times outside of business hours. A mayor is on duty 24 hours a day. As the harrassment goes, your user name is "mom of 2" leading most of us to believe you have two children. If you knew all the details of the harrassment Tim endured, WHEN BEING GUILTY OF NO CRIME, you would be sickened. It is by the grudge of two, held against me, that I believe this has happened. I do have friends within the EPD that agree with what I say. I really can't say much more at this time, but the facts of this will be coming out in the very near future. I'm absolutely sure if this happened to one of yours, you would feel the same as me.

Longneck linda

You have often stated that you are in favor of our mayor because he has done so much for you. Now you have stated that he got the city to take down some of your trees and fix the sidewalks around your house even up to your front door. Did you pay for any of that? If you did not then it is no wonder you favor him. You have gained something that most citizens of this town have not. You have not been here nearly as long as some of the complaining residents who therefore have paid more taxes to this town than you. Of course you would be happy to be favored. My grandmother has been calling the city for a year now trying to get them to cut down a tree, yet no one comes. She has lived here her entire life, yet your needs take precedent over hers. That's not fair, and that's exactly why people are complaining. I would really like to see you shut up!!

Now as far as the Tim situation goes--he didn't deserve to be treated the way he was. He had his problems in the past, but the problem he had this go around was that he did not step down from the fight. If an officer started harassing me about my past and would not let it go, I too would become very defensive. It is my right to speak my mind to anyone, including the EPD. They have no right to continually harass people because they don't like what they say. Example, I don't like Longneck Linda or her ideas, but I will NOT go to her house and harass her or do anything to her that would impede her ability to live freely. I would like her to shut up, but I will not make her. Do you see what I'm saying?

Anyways, there is a real problem going on in this city that is obviously not going to be solved by any individuals already in department. We need new people to take charge!!!!! Also, Taylor of all people should realize that spending above your means is not an option for businesses. If Marsh had an increase in expense they had to raise price, but the people did not have to buy. Forcing the people to pay a tax is not a good option just because he wants to keep spending. Really I haven't seen much of an increase in crime that can actually be prevented by the police!!!! They are there to ENFORCE NOT PREVENT!!!! It is the community as a whole that should be responsible for its own safety. Teach your own children how to behave. Start paying attention to and making friends with the people around you. Only those truly bad apples will commit crimes if they feel that their neighbors and friends will help and support them in any ways they can.

I like the way you think. Good post.

Nice Post

Very nice post. You are right on the same page as some of us.

Best Regards,

Matthew Tyner

Thank you ag08

You hit the nail square on the head, especially in your words for Tim. There are police officers that believe they are above the citizens and feel that freedom of speech is Disorderly Conduct. I know, it's happened to me. Thank you for defending Tim. You must know what they were doing to him, God Bless you for taking his part. ~ Keith "General Pops" Israel, Proud US ARMY Dad.

Keith

Keith, Im sorry about Tim and the way some people treat you. It makes me really sad. I couldnt imagine losing a son. I met Tim once and I think he was a nice person. He may not have always been into such great things but that doesnt make him a bad person and it doesnt justify the cops harrassing him. Stay strong.
