High School Baseball Team

In response to the letter in the Elwood Call Leader 07/23/08. I want to start of by saying for sure that I among the many people in this community that are very proud of what these boys did. However, the senior boys were not the only ones on the team. Therefore, I do not feel that they should be the only ones recognized. All the articles in the Herald Bulletin and the Call Leader seemed to focus on the 7 seniors. I keep hearing about all of the team work and what a brotherhood they are well if thats the case why are we only hearing about the 7 individuals. The pep session that was a huge let down, while the seniors were asked the questions by Mr. Berkimier the remainder of the team just sat there. They were not announced or recognized by anyone. That was so sad. It takes 9 men to cover the field, which means that 3 of the players on the field at all times were "underclassmen". One senior didn't even play(which was bull). I heard that even at the banquet the coach carried on about the 7 seniors and that the team next year will have a hrad time trying to accomplish what they did.(Nice choice of words coach!) In fact they are very capable you just need to make sure that you put into them the same thing that you put into the team this year!! What about the signed baseball they received it is such crap that the others as the coach referred to them will have to get your own case the seniors are the only ones that get those. My gosh if you had asked some of those parents I am sure that they would have given the money to make sure that all the boys received them. Another thing that went on while the boys were on the wonderful road to much success when they would have batting practice "the starters" would bat and leave which meant the non-starters had to bat last and clean up after everyone else. That is not right and it was even stated by an assistant coach that it was wrong. TEAMWORK / BROTHERHOOD!!! In closing I would like to say good job to all of you!!! TROY, NATE, CODY, KEVIN, DARREN, ZACH, AARON, JAKE D., JAcOB H., NATHANIEL, TYLER, MILES, TREVOR, TANNER, DAVEY, & ETHAN!!! WAY TO GO STATE RUNNERS UP WEAR YOUR RINGS WITH PRIDE!!!!!
