Updates from the Ranch

hey there everybody! sorry i have not been on here for a while. i took on a new thing (ya, i know, like i had time to take on anything else in my life right now, lol). i am now the "Heartland Regional Director for the United States Equine Rescue League of the Indiana Division". we will be taking in rescued horses for them also starting sometime this summer when we get our other shelters built.

we have been working allot to build up the place. the pasture is coming in nicely again this year, a little slow because of lack of rain and a hard/crazy winter, but still doing well for only it's 2nd year. the new goats are doing good, my Nannie will be having babies soon. my daughter will be starting her second year of rodeos with her horse this year and we hope to be having a "Horse Handling Clinic" sometime this summer given by our good friend/farrier/trainer Jeremy Neel.

also, the Elwood Park Board has plans of possible park trails to include horses on them. i called them and put them in contact with the "Indiana Trail Riders Assoc." to help them out with any questions they may have about how to build the trails to be able to have horses on them. i'll be going to the next park board meeting on the 29th to see how things are coming along with the plan. i really do hope they let the horses in the park. i think it would be a very good thing for this community. i now have 10 horses at my facility, 6 of which are boarded horses that other people own. so there are more horse owners here in and around Elwood than what i think everybody realizes, lol. there is also another facility (can't remember the name) that is over off the dead end road that goes to the "Elwood swamp". she (Debi) has 12 acres and has a few boarded horses there. she lives down in fishers. that in itself (having 2 boarding facilities) says there are more horses in this town that what people think. guess that is why i am going to go to the park board meetings and push for the trails to include horses. because i feel that it is a good business decision for the community to allow "horse people" to be able to do things here in town rather than go all the way to Strawtown for the closest "day ride trails".

well, hope all are doing well. talk at y'all later!
