The Warehouse Grand Opening Sat Oct. 18, 2008

Well I guess when you have the cops and the fire marshall in your pocket you can do about anything. Dog, Rumors but I didn't see or even hear of anyone else in that inbreed town doing anything for a fallen "VET" yet you all still do your best to put them out? I guess if not from there cause everyone there are related one way or another. Even the Post sucks for the "VETS." So now you have new bar in town with 1 way out, yippie thats where I would want to be stuck in a bunch of people and something happens and you can't get out. Boy that would suck to be you huh? Rumors has been one of the best bars in that freaking town. Wonder, yeh wonder what the hell ya gonna catch!!!!! Grease the palms. Sad but true. People just trying to make a living in a dying town. What if that were you? Get ready people that town has nothing now never really did, drunks and drugs:) Pretty soon it will fade also, just like all the other small towns. Just for that fact you think you can keep outsider's out. No worry here. I'll drive out of my way to not put money there.. Have a good one to one big town of relation.LMAO

The place only has 1 exit?

It has one exit on each side of the building Pat Rice had the building commissioner over several times making sure everything was up to code and had all the proper licenses before he opened. Why is it that whenever somebody tries to do something nice for this town they're run down for it? I have been in Rumor has it and had no problems along with many others but the rumors about the place have grown quite ridiculous and now The Warehouse has only been open a short time and the rumors are already getting a little out there. I guess it sure doesn't take to much to see why businesses don't want to hang around in this town!

Me? I'm not bad mouthing any establishment. The post above said that and I asked about it. I have not been to Pat's bar but the pics look cool and I hear it's nice. I know both Pat's and like them. I'll probably stop in one of these nights. For that matter I have never had a problem at Rumor, Sam's or any other bar around town.

Wasn't referring to you or any one person in general. I just seem to hear a lot of rumors about both of them and both just seem to want to help the community so I just have to wonder sometimes I guess :)

It's sad that people have to put places down but from what I gather there are wire's showing and no sprinkler system and ya know I have never met so many rude people in one place in my life and I've lived all over this Country. Instead of listening to the crap go see... Biker's do more then what people give us credit for! A lot of money has been raised for for communities for kids, families etc. Then get put down and talked about. Maybe you all should have just left the KLAN in there and your town would surely be booming with business.. Ya think? Yes I'm a bit bitter. I'm a biker and when little Tabi was murdered in Tipton my husband and I put a run together and it was a big turn out. Didn't see anyone else doing anything! I think Rumors should sell their place to a blk. club then maybe you wouldn't have been so soon to make up stories about them.. Then you can have some big blk. booties shinning up in your street lights. I'll do my best to help them sell. They had to jump through hoops to get that bar up and running. While I would disagree with most of the past posts concerning the bikers and their stereotype I must say that you are making their case. Your post from yesterday especially do not help Rumors.

There have been several post lately about the good food and humanitarian efforts relating to Rumors but you, in just 2 posts, have shed a bad light on them. Talking about incest in your 1st post? Talking about palms getting greased?

If I were the owners of the Rumors bar I would tell you right quick that if you were my friend I wouldn't need any enemies!

If your "friend" encourages incest language and the other things you say in your posts then they should leave. I'm not sure they would condone your language? I've seen their posts too and to date they have only been trying to make a point and it looks tome if might be working.

The immature turn that this topic has taken, mainly due to a particular person trying to get everyone fired up (hrlybren) is rediculous. I've worked and lived in this town for 5 years and I know there are a few ignorant people out there, but for someone to come in here and start downgrading everyone and calling us all inbred, stupid, ect, is rediculous. this is coming from an ignorant mind that has no clue where people in this town come from, their backgrounds, anything about there familes or anything. The best advice I have for people is ignore this s**t stirrer because that's all they're trying to do. Rumor Has It, while I've never been in the bar, I've heard TONS of good stuff about the bar and the Back Door Cafe. They've cleaned the place up (at least what i've seen from the outside), they've made it family friendly in the back, etc.. Let the business try to make it. If you want to run people out of town, run off the uneducated person that's coming on here running down the people of our city and making rude comments. I'm pretty certain that the comments that this person made about bringing in a black motorcycle gang and women with "big booties" would probably get them beat to a pulp by a black motorcycle CLUB. People don't like bad publicity and that's exactly what "hrlybren" is giving everyone on this site, Rumor Has It, and MC Clubs EVERYWHERE.

You claim you are helping your friends sell the bar? Well believe me your posts have did nothing but convey to people to stay away. After all who would be interested in purchasing a failing business. I would have never known some of this until I read your posts.

I to enjoy riding my bike. It's people like you that give bikers a bad name. We've seen the posts from the owners and they seem genuine. I'm surprised that they would rank you as a good friend.
As far as the racism comments. I'm in my 40's and only hear about the stories in Elwood. This town was labeled years ago and it's not the mentality any longer. Elwood is beyond any race issues.

Did you ever think that because times are hard that it hit them as well. There's not very many successful businesses in Elwood that serve the public.

let me tell you about some rumors i have heard in the past..rumor has it, that the silver dollar had a black mans head stuffed and hanging on the wall and it was the hang out of the kkk..I have been there and never seen nothing like that nor any racist thing there at all....Rumor has it, that johnson & johnson, proctor & gamble were a satanist group and you shouldnt buy from them....now if you put credibility into rumors youll never do nor go any place at all....not everyone is gonna like you in this world and if you give up and quit fighting youll never have nothing...you are known by the fruits you bear, in other words if your doing all good things in your business and you let what people whisper behind your back stop you from life, you will fail but the good you do people will see it and it will get out to others and they will say " hey lets go here , they have done so much for our community"....do you think rosa parks would be famous today if she did nothing, last time i looked the silver dollar was still in business. and so were the other companies..when people bad mouth me, well they can just put it in their pipe and smoke it lol...if you wear your feelings on your shoulders, life can be very hard..

the "rumor" about the Silver Dollar is not just that. It is true there used to be a black mans head mounted on a wooden plaque just above the bar. I can remember going in there on Sundays to help my father clean the bar after a busy Saturday. Yes its true, but to this day you could walk into that place no matter what your race and feel welcome. Things have changed but some people fail to see the good possibilities that do still exist.

Well I wrote a comment yesterday, but apparently somepeople don't appreciate the truth so I hope it gets posted today!

I am upset that people could consider that creating yet another bar in this town is doing something good for our community. We have enough bars and nothing for our youth. Pat Rice, being that he was a police officer, should know first hand the severity of Elwood's problems. There is nothing to do for the youth in our town. They are our future and obviously people care more about getting drunk and having a good time then investing in our future. I think this town is pathetic. It isn't a good deed to add another place for parents to escape their children so they can do whatever they please! I am only in my twenties and I know better. It's sad to think the Elwood is so bad it has rotted the minds of those who are suppose to be wise. Until people who have power and money do something RIGHT...perhaps there should be a town meaning to explain the meaning....then noone should be on the defensive because someone is putting down another booze hall. Whoever said this town is going to shrivel is right. When all you invest in is the drunks and druggies in Elwood what else could you expect???

A bar is not something nice for our community...it's only making things worse!

I think it's obvious that hrlybren has not been in The Warehouse. We have four 36" doors opening out for emergency evacuation in case of a problem. 3 are located on one side of the club and one is located in the rear. Most clubs, at best have three doors leading out. We also have plenty of fire extinguishers in strategic locations throughout the club. We have continuously been inspected by the building commissioner during construction and was given an occupancy permit from the city to operate. We have also been inspected by the Elwood Fire Department and are up to code. Furthermore, I don't know where hrlybren is coming up with the hanging wires. There are no hanging wires or the fire department or building commissioner would surely have made us remove them. All wire is in approved conduit. Also, no palms were greased to get any permits. Anyone who believes that need to have their head examined. As for charitable events, we have only been open for a few weeks and haven't had a chance to do anything. We were asked to participate in the Merle Perkins run but was later replaced by another spot by the promoter. All things in good time. We are in the process of planning a promotion for Shop with a Cop. More on this later. All I can say is that The Warehouse is a SAFE place to come and have a good time. hrlybren, whatever your motivation was for bashing The Warehouse, you are forgiven. I have never bashed another bar in town including Rumor Has It and don't intend to. I commend Rumor for the charitable work it has done and wish them success in their bar. I would hope they would reconsider and stay in Elwood as they are an asset to the community.

There have been places in town for the youth to go. There was an arcade out at the Plaza. The plaza arcade was closed because "people" said the kids were doing and selling drugs out there. The police would show up and check out the reports. They would find them to be false the leave. But the problem was people saw them there. not knowing why, people made stories up. One big snowball effect. The owners got tired of dealing with "people" giving false reports to police. The kids parents stoped letting and taking their kids there because of this. So it went out of busniess. The same thing is happening now with "Rumor", and if people keep it up, the Warehouse might fall to this problem. False accusations only hurt the City. When busnesses look at locating here they look at why others have not made it. When they see its because of falsehoods and lies to drive people away, why would they want to be subjected to this.

Pat, nice post. It's great to know your stance on Rumor Has It and their status in Elwood. People can knock the Warehouse all they want, but until they go there and witness it on their own they will not know what it's like nor the people that go there. My wife went there this past weekend and enjoyed it and said it was really nice. If I can get the night off the 18th we've already discussed being up there that night!

When I was growing up in Elwood the Y was allot of fun. They always had things to do and there was never trouble there. Isn't this still an option for young kids?

the big trampoline! As a child I loved going to the YMCA and went often. Lots of Saturday mornings spent at the old Y. There are athletics and various clubs in the schools to help keep our children entertained. However, I wish I could think of a GREAT idea & location to have something for the kids in Elwood. Easier said then done. I have also stopped in RUMOR HAS IT to support a fundraiser. I had a couple of drinks and helped a local family in need. It's been nice of the family to even care about anyone in our town since they are not from here and we have not welcomed them with open arms. And to OPEN YOUR EYES... I wonder.... do you get involved in our community or just sit back and bad mouth everyone else who does?

REMEMBER! Exactly, you remember. There is no present tense to that statement. The YMCA now only has a gym. There aren't near the activities there were before. And yes, the schools have programs...but not on the weekends! And when you are in middle/high school is you aren't popular enough or even skilled in a sport, singing, playing an instrument there isn't much for you to do. As I said there isn't anything on the weekends...Friday/Saturday night. As far as the arcade...perhaps the right owners or workers weren't the right ones. I went out there a few times...being that I am a youner person. The person in charge wasn't a very watchful person. Also, I never saw anyone that would care enoug to stop the dealing and problems going on. My point is that making a new bar in Elwood isn't the thing we need. I honestly don't understand how any of you can think that it is a great thing for our town. I appreciate that charity that has gone on. I will say that that is the only good thing that has come from these bars. Honestly, I have been surprised by the outcome...

By the way, I try to do all I can. I am a mother, a wife, and a college student. I don't have money or a lot of time, but I try to be involved all I can. I simply wish the citizens would get their act together. I am a graduate of Elwood and I have never been in trouble with the law. I think people should realize that the youth are the most important...don't you want the best for your children. I may be young, but I know I want the best for mine!

Bring back Brady's!! That place was great back in the late 70's. Had many a memorable moment up there, it would be packed on the weekends. Oohh those formidable years.....

from experience we can teach our children the differences between right and wrong but they maek their choices....we cant stopp them...i know my 2 older children where raised in church had good roll models never did anything bad that we know of until they where old enough to be on there own...now i love my children but 1 deals weed and has been to jail so many times he foundly saw the light... they dont live in this town so there nothing to worry about ...but i do agree we need a place for youths to go...

well if that rumor was true, thats just sick. wonder what happened to the head? it needs to be buried and family informed of who it was...then the ones who did it need to be arrested, i dont care how old they are....maybe it wasnt real? maybe it was for show, and was fake? sounds like something hitler would do, he was a sick mother....

The head was for sure fake, but still none the less it was still there and anyone that went in there knew what
it stood for. Its gone and not sure where it went, but I agree that was for sure a sick thing. As a kid the first time
I saw it I had nightmare about it. It just looked very real.
This town has came a long way since those days I just wish people would see that and stop only thinking
negative of Elwood. We have our fair share of problems, but what small town doesn't. Just seems that when
there is something bad that goes on people forget about the good things that have happened here and will continue to
happen.

I rarely go out to a bar, but with all the lies concerning my life and now the bashings being written about two fine establshments here in town, I decided to go have a look for myself. Tuesday I visited "Rumor Has It', and last evening I looked over "The Warehouse." Using my knowledge in construction and renovation, I found The Warehouse to be up to snuff with no visible violations. All wiring was enclosed in conduit with NO EXPOSED WIRING. Also, there is more than one exit, plenty of restrooms, tables and chairs, and friendly staff. I found the club to be very nice and an asset to the community. I also found the same thing at "Rumor Has It." I talked to some length with the owner, Rick, and found him to very friendly and welcoming. He was not at all the man that some say he is. I did not find him to be dangerous or intimidating, as some would try to make you think. I enjoyed my conversation with him and the atmosphere he provides in his club. In talking to him, I found that he had served our country as an Airborne Ranger, something I know most of you couldn't do. I think some of you are on here just to start and spread rumors. For the rest of you; before you believe these rumors and force two more businesses out, go check them out for yourselves. Like me, you will be very impressed. ~ Pops.

I, along with the Computer Dude went on a grand tour of the warehouse yesterday evening after the board of works meeting, and I must say I was impressed. It's VERY large inside. Lots of room to move around and I love the way Pat took some aspects of the building and incorporated them into the design. The stage is big enough to have great acts booked wheich I hope they can do in the future along with adding more food items to the menu which they are already considering doing. Pat and Lisa were more than welcoming in showing me around the building. There are 4 exits and all wiring IS in conduit as per code. There's also a large exhaust fan to blow the smoke smell out, and nice restrooms!To those who want to bad mouth the place, get a life. It is a nice bar and Pat has made it clear that he will NOT put up with outrageous behavior from patrons. I congratulate the owners of the Warehouse and hope to visit during business hours sometime!

As late as 1980 the Fake head hung over the bar .It was a mannequins black head with kinky hair and also horns coming out. Distasteful yes, but it was there a long time. I worked in Noblesville at the time and some coworkers had heard of the Silver Dollar so I took them there and they were amazed at the sight. Couple of them bought T-Shirts, only when they got outside in the light did they realise they had bought women's shirts, they were light pink haha!. I Then took them uptown to Butch's for his giant $1.00 beers. They couldn't believe all the bars in town. Sad but true that's our towns history.

A fake head did hang behind the bar. I don't know when they finally decided to take it down, but it was hanging behind the bar in the early 80's. It looked exactly as 773H209 described it. A lot of the kids that grew up in Elwood went to the Silver Dollar when they turned 21 just to see if it was really there. Sad, but true.

I AM NOT SAYING IT WASNT THERE I JUST DONT RECALL IT. BUT I WAS JUST A KID AND TO BE TRUTHFUL, ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS GET IN THERE FOR WHO AT THAT TIME NEEDED A RIDE AND GET OUT, YOU KNOW WHAT I AM SAYING.

It was there until at least 81 for sure. Not sure when it came down.

Butch's....yes sir, was a nice place to shoot pool and relax! I might of even lost some blood outside the front door there too. OUCH!

andss sounds like you was a rowdy one lol...81 i was in 10th grade so i wasnt allowed in bars..lol...but when i turned 18 i flew to california to be a make up artist and hit my first bar ...the cat in the fiddle on sunset blvd.....the long island iced teas were served in a 32 oz. glass..anyway it looked that big..it only took one lol...

Quite frankly I was only 19 in 81...lol! I got in anyway. The J Bar was funner and you could just walk up the road to get there from the Silver Dollar. I also wrestled with an ice tea or 2 back in the day!

i remember when friends order a pitcher of it never drank it before i dam near drank whole pitcher and still dont really remember how i got home lol i was 19 when it happened lol

I would like to thank Pat, Lisa, Pat jr, Wendy and Scott for making me feel comfortable in the Warehouse. My girlfriends and I have been up there a couple times and every time we were made to feel welcome. They provided us with fast friendly DRAMA FREE service. Here is a list of things that they offer that will keep us coming back. A clean environment, ample seating, spacious dance floor, supurb sound system( with a wide array of music), serveral dart games, sereral pool tables, foozball table, reasonable drink prices and good food! (you have to try the nachos!!). Another thing is, one of my girlfriends can't stand being around smoke. So we usually can't be in a bar very long. She didn't have any problems in the Warehouse, they must have a very good ventilation system, So we got to enjoy "girls night out" and dance the night away!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

So in closing, I will be up there to enjoy and support the grand opening on Saturday as I hope many of you Elwoodians will be as well!!!

The head was a coconut painted black . Do you people honestly beleive that they would get away with having a real black mans head hanging on the wall. the coconut head is now stored in a barn.

Elwood is full of idiots, I have been on here and polluting my brain by reading the garbage people post on here about bars, police and the so called "corrupt" city of Elwood. Come on people I am convinced that the Pope could open a new facility in town and some idiot of this town would get on here and say that the Pope was greasing the police and had the right people in his pocket to open his buisness. And as far as the police go if you are not doing anything illegal what do you got to worry about. I am sure the elwood police department has not been the most upstanding and perfect force, but if you were not doing something to get their attention then really they probably dont even know your here. but its those people who do drugs, sell drugs, and drive drunk, beat their spouse, or whatever you simple minded people do that are worried about it, I have been in several of the bars here in town and yes the police have walked through, but every time they have walked throught and I have spoke to them I am sure they smelled alcohol on my breath but they didnt throw me down beat me and tase me like idiots of this town assume they do. And as far as the bars go, if you dont like the bar or the people running the bar DONT GO TO THE PLACE! everyone has the right to the American dream to open their own buisness and make a decent living no matter what type of service they offer. Every bar I have been to in town is decent facility and nice staff that make you feel comfortable enough to have a good time and not spend a ton of money. So what it boils down to if you dont like the town then no one is making you live here LEAVE and go find fault with another city. And if you dont like that bars in town DONT GO! go to a new bar in your new city that is so much better than Elwood and have your self a merry little time but i would almost put money on it that 6 months of you living in that town, you will have the same problems!

People say kids have nothing to do in this town and it's true. I work with teenagers and have for over 20 years. We were talking about it just the other day and they asked me why they got chased out of parking lots for just hanging out and I told them some of the places they decide to park and hang out are privately owned and they can't just hang there all night, and it might not be that way if the kids would not leave a mess and if they weren't fighting or selling drugs. They admit that it goes on, but it would go on anywhere I guess. They also said they would like a place to listen to music, like the park, they said alot of kids play in bands and would love to have an audience for free just so they could practice and have fun. The point is, kids do need something to do and yes there are going to be complaints about anything or anyplace, but the thing is we need people (adults) to help by volunteering time to help with anything, whether it is a pool hall, or a concert, or anything we come up with to keep them from being out just walking the streets, getting into trouble.

Why should the town be blamed because parents no longer want to do their jobs? If you have kids, you should find things for them to do that won't get them in trouble, or else teach them to find such things. Most of the kids I see walking the streets and getting into trouble are the ones whose parents sit on their porch drinking, smoking, cussing, and just being all around losers. Take care of your own damn kids and take responsibility for their lives instead of blaming everyone else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i lived out in a rural area, when we were done with our chores, we went and hung out with our friends once in awhile or listened to the radio or read a book ..found things to do, living in town would have been great then...you can go to the park and play or play basket ball there or the skate park...i had one friends house i could go to once a week maybe if she was home then i would have to walk about 3/4 's of a mile to get there... you guys talk about having something for the kids to do, well even if there was , who could afford it in these times...it seems everything costs money, if i paid for all my kids to go out and gave them 5 bucks each that would be 20 dollars...and they really cant do much on 5 bucks.....i never got 5 bucks a week for the heck of it, i say for the teens , let them get a job and earn it...that way it keeps them busy..for the young teens, let them find something to do like the above mentioned and if they gripe, give them something to do....thats my opinion
