I am Visiting here from the West coast. It has been many years since I visited small town Midwest America and I had forgotten that many Small town Media's such as the local papers and websites have so little news that they fill their forums with useless information about other peoples misery in the for of arrest reports.

I can't help but notice that the local police seem to be on a quest to molest the public with seatbelt violations in the absense of real crime.

Here is my question to the public. Don't you feel that if the violators are made public information and the infraction is made public, why not make the officers name public as well.

I would be interested if all these seatbelt tickets are written by the same gun-ho barney fife elwood cop.

after all public information should be available to all.....right?

Its a State wide effort

February 4th through February 17th, the Indiana State Police will have troopers working overtime to participate in Operation Pull Over (O.P.O.). The full article is on the home page of this website.

My answer to your question: Don't you feel that if the violators are made public information and the infraction is made public, why not make the officers name public as well.

Sure, Why Not. All this means is that the gun-ho barney fife elwood cop as you put it is actually doing what he was paid to do. His Job!
It's kinda hard to put him down for that, Isn't IT?

Myself, I was born & raised on the west coast and if I still lived there and had a website I probibly would'nt post the arrest reports there
because I would be spending half the afternoon typing them up.

Your right, We have very little news around here. I like it that way. That just tells me that we have a nice, quiet little town here.
The fact is that 3 or 4 arrests a day in a town of 9000+ is pretty darn good if you ask me.

When you compare the larger citys with the smaller ones, I'd have to say that this small town wins out in my opinion. Life is much simpler, friendly, and less expensive to live in a smaller town such as this one. I like the fact that if I had to, I can walk a few blocks to work without wondering if I'm going to get mugged, or stabbed. And I don't have to worry about rush traffic or long lines everywhere.
Its much less stressful to live in a small town.
I will have to say that the weather is better out there tho.

I have lived here for about 7 years now, and one thing I have noticed is that the people who grew up here seem to like to run this town down alot. Thats a shame because its quite a nice little town compared to a lot of other places in this country. I'm sure if they went and lived somewhere else for awhile, they would propabily feel differently. Granted, we need more jobs here. But that is a problem going on all over the country. Big business and our own federal government has decided we are not worth hiring but still want our money. As long as we keep buying imported goods, It's going stay that way.

As far as the arrest reports go, I am going to keep posting them. Why? As a service to the community to keep people informed. Thats what this website was designed for. And people are starting to keep each other informed. Its my hope that within a couple of years, people will be able to come here and read about everything going on in Elwood. That will depend on the communities involvment in this site, but so far at 4000+ visitors a month now, the momentum is starting to build.

Oh well, Hope you have a nice visit here in Elwood. Hopefully your next visit will contain a little more news to your liking.

Thanks
Al Jordan

I agree!! It's great that

I agree!! It's great that someone in the community is running a local website for us to voice our opinions and such, and actually keeping it up to date. Thanks Al.
